What is SID?

The Seafarer Identity Document (SID) is a unique biometric identity card for Seafarers. It is developed on highly secured technology to provide a foolproof identification to Seafarers. SID is a very important document for Seafarers similar to Passport and CDC.

Required Docs to Apply SID online

Following are the only documents required to apply SID online,

  • Indian Passport
  • Indian CDC

Procedure to Apply SID Online

Use Mozilla Firefox (Ver.40.0.x or higher) browser for the smooth functioning of the DG Shipping website. Always update your Seafarer profile on the DG Shipping website before proceeding with any application process. For more detailed information, please check this page.

This process can be divided into four parts:

  • Submit Online Application
  • Make Online Payment
  • Schedule Appointment
  • Visit SID Collection Centre

Submit Online Application

STEP-1: Vist DG Shipping SID Website. Login to the SID portal with your INDOS number and the password (Use the same credentials that you use to log in to your DG Shipping profile).

STEP-2: Once you logged in, click on the link “Apply for SID“.

STEP-3: The first tab is “INDOS and CDC Details“. Check for the correctness of the information and then click on “Continue“.

STEP-4: The next tab is the “Personal Details“. Check the details and then click on “Continue“.

STEP-5: The third tab is the “Dispatch Address“, fill in the address carefully where you want to deliver your SID and then click on “Continue“.

STEP-6: The next tab is the “Other Details”. Fill in details as per the below image and click on “Continue“.

STEP-7: The last tab is the “Declarations“. Tick the consent box and click “Submit“.

STEP-8: Review all your information on this final page and click “Submit” to apply SID online.

STEP-9: Now, you should be able to see your online generated SID application form. Take a printout or save it as a PDF for later use.

Make Payment Online

  • Once you successfully generate your online application, you can make payment by navigating to the “Make Payment” tab as shown in the below image.
  • Make a payment of Rs.300/- through the e-payment portal. You can make use of various payment methods available such as Credit card, Debit card or Net Banking.
  • After successful payment, you need to wait for a couple of working days for the payment to reflect on the DG website.

NOTE:

  • In case, if you have already done a successful payment but are unable to make an appointment for SID. Please confirm with your bank and if payment is deducted from your bank, please do not make another payment and try to take an appointment after two working days.
  • In case, if payment is not deducted and payment is failed then instead of using the same credit/debit card use a different credit/debit card for payment.

Schedule Appointment

Once your payment gets reflected, click on the “Schedule Appointment” link to schedule your appointment on the available slot to your nearest MMD.

Now your application will undergo online verification. Once your application is clear, you will receive an email and SMS notification on the verification result.

Visit SID Collection Centre(MMD)

  • On the scheduled appointment day, visit the MMD at the earliest.
  • You need to carry your Application form, Acknowledgement printout, Original Passport and Original CDC.
  • Once your documents are verified, your bio-metrics will be collected. Thats the end of the process. 🙂
  • Your SID can be printed from the website and the same will be dispatched through speed post.
